In a scene from the new HBO movie The Girl, which premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Alfred Hitchcock’s assistant Peggy attempts to explain why, of all the leading ladies he worked with in his lengthy career, the legendary director’s relationship with model-turned-actress Tippi Hedren evolved into obsession. Whatever Hitchcock threw at his star actress, she delivered back to him. “She makes him feel like he can’t hurt her.”
The 30-year-old Factory Girl star and fiancé Tom Sturridge welcomed a daughter, their first child together, in London over the weekend, E! News has confirmed.

Miller and Sturridge, who got engaged in Paris over the Christmas holiday, have not released any other details about their new arrival, which was first announced by Us Weekly.
The actress did address her expectant status in British Vogue back in March, saying, “I’m feeling fine…It’s all progressing nicely and it’s very exciting.”
Miller hinted that she would be playing it close to the bump. “I’m under strict instructions not to say anything as it would completely defeat the point of everything I’ve tried to achieve in the last eight years,” she said.
Sienna Miller and her fiance Tom Sturridge welcomed their first child over the weekend in London, a source confirms exclusively to Us Weekly. Details on the baby’s gender, name and weight were not available. The British duo have been dating for over a year and debuted signs of their engagement — Miller’s dazzling diamond engagement ring — in mid-February.
After remaining mum about her pregnancy for several months, the actress, 30, finally opened up to British Vogue in April.
“Even though I’m under strict instructions not to say anything as it would completely defeat the point of everything I’ve tried to achieve in the last eight years,” the resolutely private actress expressed to the mag. “I’m feeling fine…It’s all progressing nicely and it’s very exciting.”
Despite the couple’s silence about their new addition to their family, Miller and Sturridge, 26, made no hesitation in stepping out in public on several celebratory occasions.
In May, the couple stole some time away in Portofino, Italy for a babymoon. A week later, they got decked out to celebrate Sturridge’s BFF Robert Pattinson’s 26th birthday at Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant in London, England.
News of her pregnancy broke in January, but Sienna Miller chose not to address the rumors.
Instead, the actress let a photo tell the story, debuting her baby bump at a New York event without speaking a word.
“I’m in my second trimester, so I’m I-can-talk-about-it pregnant, even though I’m under strict instructions not to say anything as it would completely defeat the point of everything I’ve tried to achieve in the last eight years,” Miller tells Vogue UK in their April issue, referring to her inclusion in Britain’s phone-hacking scandal and subsequent testimony.
“I’m feeling fine,” she reveals. “It’s all progressing nicely and it’s very exciting.”
Miller, 30, and boyfriend Tom Sturridge expect their first child in July.
Sienna Miller and boyfriend Tom Sturridge are expecting a child, a source confirms to Us Weekly. The 30-year-old actress and Sturridge, 26, have been together for a year and “don’t have plans right away to marry, if at all,” the source says.
“Friends are really happy with her relationship with Tom,” the source tells Us. “He’s younger, yes, but he’s mature and he’s a good guy.”
The source adds that Miller’s family “had had it with Jude Law and his cheating and all the back and forth.” Last February, Miller and Law, 39, ended their relationship for the second time. They first split in 2006 after two years of dating when Law admitted to cheating on the star with his children’s nanny.
Miller and Sturridge’s friends “were not surprised by the news of the pregnancy,” says the source. “They’re really good together.”
“They just spent the holidays in Paris together after they announced the news in London,” says the source.
Miller’s rep could not be reached for comment. A rep for Sturridge tells Us: “We don’t comment on our client’s personal lives at all.”
In September, the duo went on a double date with Sturridge’s pal Robert Pattinson and girlfriend Kristen Stewart. The foursome knocked back drinks at London’s Groucho Club. “They looked happy,” a witness told Us.
What a difference a few months make! Back in early September we first heard about the BBC Two’s upcoming docudrama The Girl, which chronicles director Alfred Hitchcock’s obsessive relationship with his The Birds star Tippi Hedren. At the time there was one pair of names attached to star as Hitch and Hedren, but times have changed, and now we have two new names – Toby Jones and Sienna Miller, respectively.
Per Deadline the Wall to Wall Television production of The Girl will be produced by Amanda Jenks and executive produced by Leanne Klein for Wall to Wall and Lucy Richer at the BBC. Shooting starts this week in South Africa.
Miller (pictured, Stardust) is no doubt best known for her tempestuous relationship with actor Jude Law over many years while Jones has appeared in such films as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, The Rite, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Hunger Games.
According to BBC Two Hedren has cooperated by giving interviews to writer Gwyneth Hughes, while Hitchcock biographer Donald Spoto is attached as a consultant. Becoming Jane’s Julian Jarrold is directing with Imelda Staunton and Penelope Wilton also in the cast.
Hitchcock was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film — The Birds. But as he sculpted Hedren into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. His failure arguably destroyed both of their careers. In a statement Hughes said: “It’s been the most enormous privilege to talk at length to Tippi Hedren, the last ‘Hitchcock blonde’ in the life of Britain’s most original and successful film director. At the time, in the early 1960s, the American star suffered in silence. But now, at the age of 81, her wisdom and insights have helped me to put her real life ordeal on to the screen.”
Sienna Miller has every right to savor this moment now that the folks who hacked into her cell phone are finally being held accountable.
In an interview with the Today show, the British star sounded off on the phone-tapping scandal that’s enveloped her life for much of the past seven years.
No doubt, she has a lot on her mind.
Miller told anchor Amy Robach she felt “incredibly paranoid” when tidbits she related to only her closest family members and best friend began turning up as titillating tabloid stories.
“Stories were coming out that nobody knew about, that nobody except my mother, my sister, my boyfriend and my best friend, and there were times I’d sit down with those four people and accuse one of them of sending stories,” Miller said. “And I’d also—terrible—but I’d tell my best friends things and see if they came out and they never did.”
Such invasions of privacy committed by the Rupert Murdoch-owned News of the World tabloid took its toll on the actress.
“Everything is compromised enormously,” she reflected. “It’s had a huge impact on relationships, friendships, career, all sorts of things. But on a personal level, just that feeling of violation, it was bad for me but now obviously it’s come to light that victims of crime were being hacked and that’s atrocious. That’s on another level.”
Sienna began to suspect something was up when people would leave voice mails she’d never get, prompting her own investigation.
“That started to happen a a lot,” she continued. “Obviously these mails weren’t being listened to and were no longer new so they wouldn’t be in my inbox. But then I’d sort of plant stories. We’d leave messages on certain people’s phones and it would come out.”
Finally, Miller reported her suspicions to Scotland Yard only to see little done about it.
“The police were reluctant to give up any information,” she said. “They had this evidence and not kind of handed it out. You know, you trust the police force and it was shocking to know you couldn’t in this case.”
Little did Jude Law’s former gal-pal know there were some on the force who were also on the tabloid payroll.
Miller decided to take legal action and managed to get a hold of notes from News of the World’s private investigators. It contained not only the actress’ personal identification numbers, but also family and friends and she eventually discovered “a huge web of deception.”
That led to the momentous decision to sue the tab, which ended this May in victory with a judgment of $162,000 in her favor and a big, fat apology from News of the World’s editors, who accepted all liability in the case.
“It was really scary and definitely times when I doubted it was something I should do,” she admitted.
But ultimately Sienna was happy she did take action and while she wishes the whole affair never happened, she’s not giving up the fight. Miller’s expected to participate in a government inquiry looking into the illegal spying on the part of Murdoch’s tabloid media empire along with J.K. Rowling and Hugh Grant, who has been an outspoken critic of the hacking and even helped expose it.
