The August issue of InStyle magazine, on newsstands this week, profiles actress and International Medical Corps Global Ambassador Sienna Miller and her journey to Haiti following the earthquake. “The spirit of the Haitian people – despite what they’ve experienced – moved me so much,” says Miller, who visited International Medical Corps’ clinics in Port-au-Prince, where the organization provides health services and training to vulnerable populations. By witnessing first-hand the catastrophic destruction left by the January 12 earthquake, Miller aims to raise public awareness of the long-term needs of Haiti’s people.

The effects of the tragedy, which caused more than 230,000 deaths and displaced about 2 million people, will take years to overcome. “The long-term problems that Haitians are now facing are really only the beginning,” Miller says. “We must help rebuild, yes, but that includes providing safe, healthy environments for everyone.” In addition to the InStyle Magazine feature, Sienna Miller’s trip to Haiti is also documented in a video at www.InternationalMedicalCorps.org/InStyle

“After seeing International Medical Corps’ courageous work up-close I was determined to become more involved, devoting my energies and my name to bring more attention to the challenges they face around the world,” said Miller.

Thank you to Jaya for this!

Thanks to Hynam – Sienna Miller has very kindly donated a beautiful brown studded Rebecca Minkoff bag along with a signed headshot for the Haiti relief charities APE and International Medical Corps, for whom she is Ambassador.

It is a well-loved bag that she’s been spotted around town carrying and she hopes it will make a lot of money for such a good cause. The auction is now up and running ( and ends Sunday). Click here to check it out!

French jeweler Piaget is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Possession range with fashion ‘it girl,’ Sienna Miller as its new cover star.

Clearly meant to target the next generation of customers, the ads show an angelic-looking Miller, wearing necklaces from the collection.

Shot by Raymond Meier (and styled by Elissa Santisi and Gucci Westman) in New York, the campaign is soon to be unveiled, but in the meantime, Piaget is already banging the social media drum to stir up excitement for the anniversary celebrations: a making-of video will go live on YouTube on May 17, and the jeweler has also launched a Possession-themed video contest on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/Piaget.

Miller is quickly upping her fashion credibility: she previously starred in style-laden films including Factory Girl, graced the cover of US Vogue and the campaign for the Boss Orange fragrance, while co-running the Twenty8Twelve label.

Singer Kylie Minogue has stripped off for a new cancer awareness campaign, five years after she was diagnosed with the disease.

“It means so much to me to be part of this year’s campaign for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. I wholeheartedly support their effort to raise funds for the vital work undertaken by Breakthrough Brest Cancer,” contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

The singer poses in just a bedsheet in the saucy shoot for the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2010 fund raising initiative.

Along with Minogue, Sienna Miller and Claudia Schiffer have also been snapped for the promo.

Sienna Miller models a green Robin Hood mask to encourage people to become “part of the world’s biggest bank job” in a new advertisement.

Miller, once touted to play Maid Marian in an upcoming remake of Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, now stars in a real-life version of the tale in a campaign to tax bankers.

It calls for a tax on the ‘sheriffs’ of the world by taking a percentage of transactions between financial institutions – but not on banks’ transactions with their high street customers.

Miller said: “A tiny 0.05% tax on bankers could raise billions for public services and tackle poverty and climate change at home and abroad.”

Ahead of the Budget, tax campaigners dressed as the ‘poor man’s hero’ were set to march through Westminster carrying their own green-coloured Budget boxes.

The ‘merry men’ were urging the Chancellor to kickstart international agreement for new financial transaction taxes by introducing a 0.005% stamp duty on all sterling transactions.

The campaign estimates the tax could raise £250bn every year worldwide, with proceeds being split between local issues, poverty and climate change.

It is supported by organisations including Oxfam, the TUC and ActionAid.

Nearly 72,000 have voted for a banking tax through the Robin Hood site and it has 130,000 facebook fans and 3,000 twitter followers.

International Medical Corps announced today the appointment of actress and activist Sienna Miller as an Ambassador. Miller recently traveled with International Medical Corps to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to see first-hand the impact that war has had on women and children. During more than a decade, an estimated 5.4 million people have died in DRC as a result of the ongoing conflict and disease. International Medical Corps has been providing health services and training local health professionals there since the ’90s.

“We are tremendously grateful to have Sienna join our efforts in raising awareness of the suffering of vulnerable populations in DRC and around the world,” said International Medical Corps President & CEO Nancy A. Aossey. “In many of these remote and volatile areas we are providing the only health care services that exist. Sienna’s steadfast commitment to shining a light on these crises will – and already has – had an enormous impact on our life-saving work.”

“After seeing International Medical Corps’ courageous work up-close I was determined to become more involved, devoting my energies and my name to bring more attention to the challenges they face around the world,” said Miller, who currently stars on Broadway in “After Miss Julie.” “These people work in the toughest conditions imaginable, saving lives every single day, and helping bring self-reliance and hope. The question for me was, how could I not take action?”

Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps today has a staff of 3,500 working in more than 22 countries and regions. Its relief efforts focus on training local health workers, delivering maternal and child health care, integrating mental health into primary care settings, and promoting the use of clean water, proper sanitation and hygiene.

Since its inception 25 years ago, International Medical Corps’ mission has been to relieve the suffering of those impacted by war, natural disaster and disease, by delivering vital health care services that focus on training. This approach of helping people help themselves is critical to returning devastated populations to self-reliance. For more information visit our website at www.imcworldwide.org.

Sienna Miller hasn’t been short of publicity thanks to a high-profile romance with Balthazar Getty and her trend-setting style. But this summer she hopes fans will get to know her for another reason – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

“It’s really exciting to be in a film that people actually want to go and see! I was having to pay people to see my movies!” the actress tells Nylon magazine in its August issue. “If you want to make amazing, artistic films, you’ve got to have some sort of box office credibility, which I don’t have.”

Yet, Miller remains a favorite among paparazzi. While filming the 1960s period piece Hippie Hippie Shake, a film out later this year, the actress had to strip down for a skinny-dipping scene and a photographer snapped a shot of her nude.

“Me, full-frontal naked. I don’t want to be naked on the cover of a Sunday newspaper! I don’t!” she said. “I don’t want people analyzing the shape of my muff!”

Scrutinized or not, Miller still says she wants to make a difference in the world – with or without the cameras. She recently traveled to Africa to help out in the war-ravaged Congo region.

“I basically realized that I was so resentful for so long about the state of my celebrity,” she told the magazine, “but I wanted to turn it around and do something good.”

Sienna Miller isn’t worried about getting older.

The Factory Girl actress, 27, says she has lost sleep over the pressure to look the part of a leading lady but has now resolved to just be herself and not comply with Tinseltown’s ideal image.

She explains, “Recently I found myself thinking, ‘I’m getting wrinkles and things are wobbling – I should go to the gym’. Then I was like, ‘f*** it’.

“It’s not where the focus should be right now. LA is a nightmare for that. Young girls in Hollywood are having pre-emptive Botox.

“I say, let people be young and then be old. I can’t wait to be seen as a woman.”
